Highview Stud's stallion Wrote enjoyed a good weekend in the United States with two more winners saluting the judge in a fashion that suggests that both have further wins to come.
The victories by Escribiente and Immosiautunya bring Wrote's total number of winners to four from just nineteen starters. Given that Wrote's first crop (in the US) is early into their three year old season, and both he and his sire were at their best at a mile and above, it will be interesting to see his progeny progress over the next six months in the US.
Escribiente (Wrote - Susie's Gal by Alphabet Soup) was having his fourth start when he contested a maiden mile event on the turf at Tampa Bay Downs. Trained by Reid Nagle and ridden by Samy Comacho, he settled back of midfield from a wide draw. Past the half mile he was pushed forward three wide to be outside the leaders turning for home. He didn't take long to assert his superiority running to the line three lengths clear.
The following day, a second colt by Wrote won his maiden at Tampa Bay Downs on the dirt. Immosiautunya (Wrote - Jabalski Princess by Jeblar) had previously had five starts where his two most recents starts had yielded third placings. Seemingly appreciating the step up from five and a half furlongs (1,100m) to six and a half furlongs (1,300m), Immosiautunya settled at the rear of the field in the hands of Shannon Uske. From the 600m, he was urged forward and rounded the turn closing in on the leaders, He took the lead in the last furlong and was a half length clear at the line.
Wrote is very much in the image of High Chaparral, powerful and correct. It is not a surprise to see his progeny start to perform in their three-year-old season.
Wrote has been secured outright by Highview Stud and has made the Waikato his home. He is about to embark on his second season and is again proving to be popular with local breeders - his fee remains at $5,000 and his book will be limited to 100 mares.
We at Highview are looking forward to the delivery of his first NZ crop of foals later this year. He is the only Group 1 winning two-year-old by High Chaparral; physique, performance and perfectly priced - if you are interested in discussing a possible mating of your mare with Brent, give him a call on 021921467.
