New Zealand's current leading first season sire Santos was represented by two impressive new winners in Australia yesterday.
The Andrew Bobbin-trained Sandual was a 6.5 length winner at Horsham and the Kacy Fogden-trained Victory win was a 6.3 length winner at the Sunshine Coast.
This takes the good looking son of I Am Invincible's winners tally to four, with Group One winner Ulanova his best performer to date.
Bred by Emirates Park, Santos comes from one of their most successful families being a half-brother to Japanese Gr.3 winner Melagrana from a half-sister to Group winners Mutawaajid, Adeewin and Fatoon, the dam of G1 ATC Epsom Handicap (1600m) winner Fat Al.
A winner at the early Spring 2YO trials, Santos made his debut with a solid third in the Listed ATC Breeders Plate.
Commencing his autumn campaign with an easy victory in the $150,000 ATC Pierro Plate (1100m) at Randwick, he then booked his place in the G1 ATC Golden Slipper (1200m) with a tenacious win in the Gr.2 ATC Skyline Stakes (1200m), a race which historically attracts a high-class field of colts and has been a great stallion-making race, won in the past by Snitzel, Choisir, Hinchinbrook and Manhattan Rain.
Santos is the only son of breed shaping sire I Am Invincible at stud in New Zealand and standing at just $7,500 +GST he offers breeders outstanding opportunity. Click here for more info.
